Microsoft finally released a new start menu in Windows 10
Microsoft today launched the Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 20161 to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. This version belongs should be Windows 10 21H1.
In this new version, the new version of the start menu that Microsoft has been showing for a long time has finally arrived. The new version of the start menu no longer uses dynamic tiles.
The theme-aware tile is a newly developed feature of Microsoft. Microsoft “removes the solid color backplates behind the logos in the apps list and applies a uniform, partially transparent background to the tiles. This design creates a beautiful stage for your apps, especially the Fluent Design icons for Office and Microsoft Edge, as well as the redesigned icons for built-in apps like Calculator, Mail, and Calendar that we started rolling out earlier this year.”
Here we need to emphasize again that the dynamic tile function has not been completely removed by Microsoft, but Microsoft itself has decided not to use the dynamic tile function in its own applications.
That is to say, if other developers are willing to use dynamic tiles, in fact, they can still quote and allow users to customize the background color block during the development process.
The newly added theme-aware tiles actually set the background color according to the theme installed by the user. Of course, if the user does not install the theme, there is no background color.
If there is no custom background color, the background color of the dark and light mode of the start menu is used. For example, the application icon in light mode will become an off-white background.
