Microsoft Edge is available on Windows 11’s Microsoft Store

Recently, Microsoft Edge browser was launched on Windows 11’s Microsoft Store, which means that the Edge browser will be updated and distributed through the Microsoft Store in the future. Microsoft introduced the improved Microsoft Store at the Windows 11 conference held last month. Microsoft will bring more applications than ever before and welcomes more third-party applications to the Microsoft Store. In other words, users can download other web browsers, Microsoft Teams, VLC players, and other full desktop applications through the store in the future

However, the Microsoft Edge browser currently on the store seems to be just an installer. After installing it, a new download program will be launched to complete the “real” Edge installation. In addition, the Microsoft Store of Windows 11 also supports downloading extensions of the Edge browser. Entering “Edge” in the search bar will display some new extensions designed for the Chromium version of the browser.

In addition to Edge, Microsoft also introduced Notepad and Paint applications to the Microsoft Store. These popular system built-in applications have become independent and updateable applications on Windows 11, with exclusive locations and pages on the Microsoft Store. This means that Notepad, Paint, and other native Windows applications can automatically receive new features and upgrades through the Microsoft Store in the future without waiting for the Windows 11 system update.
