Microsoft displays a pop-up window to guide users to use the Edge browser
Some time ago, Microsoft started to push the Microsoft Edge browser to users and forced installation, and after installation, it was impossible to uninstall the browser directly through the control panel.
Microsoft explained that the reason for this approach is that a new version needs to be installed to replace the old version of Microsoft Edge as a basic component of the system and therefore does not support uninstallation.
At that time, we mentioned that after the mandatory installation, Microsoft may continue to play ads for consumers to use it. As expected, now Microsoft’s small ads have begun.
Microsoft has already begun to deploy a new promotion strategy on the back-end server. When a user opens the Microsoft Edge browser, an advertisement will pop up on the taskbar.
The content of the pop-up advertisement mainly hopes that the user will fix the browser on the taskbar, which can increase the display rate and increase the frequency of consumer use.
Perhaps Microsoft is considering that users who migrated from IE do not know how to fix, so they need to be guided through the Windows 10 pop-up module.
The advertising module in the start menu can be turned off in the system settings (Settings > System > Notifications & Action), but it seems that the advertising module on the taskbar cannot be closed directly through the settings application.
