Microsoft announced to terminate the Microsoft Office Lens for Windows

Microsoft launched Microsoft Office Lens, a document scanning tool for Windows in 2014, which is mainly used to scan and edit document content.

But now this application is about to reach the end of its life, Microsoft has updated the document that this desktop software will end its official support at the end of this year.

After the end of support, related cloud services will not be available. Of course, the program itself can still be used. Microsoft emphasizes that the software can also be used offline as a local software.

Microsoft stated that services related to Microsoft cloud storage in Microsoft Office Lens for Windows will no longer be provided after December 31, 2020.

For example, functions such as scanning files and saving them to OneDrive, OneNote, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. are all out of support and cannot be used.

Users can still continue to use the software to scan pictures and save them as offline files. Of course, they can also be manually uploaded to OneDrive cloud storage after saving.

At the same time, after the support is discontinued, Microsoft will also remove it from the Microsoft Store and no longer provide downloads, so if the user reinstalls the system or deletes the software, it cannot be installed.

The discontinuation of the desktop version of the scanning tool does not affect many users, because very few desktop users still use this scanning tool.

More users are using Android and iOS devices for document scanning, while Office Lens for iOS and Android are in normal service and are still being updated.

And scanning with a mobile phone is more convenient than scanning with a tablet or computer, so if necessary, search for Office Lens directly in the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store install it.
