Microsoft adds more ads to Windows 11 search box

In order to promote its own Microsoft Edge browser, Microsoft has tried various methods, including blocking users from downloading and installing Google Chrome in all aspects. For example, when you use the Microsoft Edge browser to visit the official website of Google Chrome, the address bar will automatically pop up a prompt to induce users not to download Google Chrome.

Now Microsoft is testing new ad styles in the Windows 11 search box, and when users search Google Chrome, they will see ads mixed with the search box.

When a user searches for Chrome in Windows 11’s search box, search results from Bing use a large space at the top to advertise the Microsoft Edge browser. Also, there is a small banner at the top promoting Bing wallpaper software.

This should be an advertisement that Microsoft has only recently launched to users in some regions. After being complained by users, Microsoft has deleted the top Bing wallpaper download button. However, Microsoft did not respond to the matter and did not delete the huge advertisement for Microsoft Edge. It seems that Microsoft is so prepared that it will not be removed.

Of course, if the user has configured the search box to not call the network content, they will not be able to see this advertisement, because the Bing search will not be used without calling the network.
