Meta will launch four VR headsets in 2024
After showing the head-mounted device “Project Cambria” which is a headset currently in development from Meta, and will follow on from the success of its Oculus product line, The Information has obtained information that Meta will launch at least four virtual reality headsets with different positioning, and “Project Cambria” is just one of them.
The high-end virtual reality headset code-named “Project Cambria”, internally called “Arcata”, is expected to be officially unveiled around September. The internal code name of the subsequent update version is “Funston”, which is expected to be launched in 2024.
At the same time, the suggested price of “Project Cambria” will be in the range of $799, which is much higher than the price of the Quest 2 currently on the market, but it can also correspond to a higher virtual reality display experience.
In addition to the aforementioned two headsets, The Information also pointed out that Meta expects to launch two additional virtual reality headsets codenamed “Stinson” and “Cardiff” between 2023 and 2024, which will become the follow-up update models of the Quest series of devices.
In addition, in the augmented reality glasses device part, Meta will launch a product code-named “Nazare” in 2024, and will also launch a low-cost version code-named “Hypernova”, both of which will be equipped with the principle of electromyography to read subtle movements, to use the special bracelet with the corresponding function. The product code-named “Nazare” will be used in an independent operation mode, while the low-cost version code-named “Hypernova” must be operated in conjunction with a smartphone, and the overall usage is almost similar to Google Glass.
