Meta plans to release its first AR glasses in 2024
Meta is expected to launch the first augmented reality glasses device, code-named Project Nazare, which will come out in 2024, while a lighter and more fully functional version is also planned for 2026, and a third augmented reality glasses are expected in 2028.
According to related news, Meta’s first augmented reality glasses will be designed in a form of independent operation, but the actual use still needs to be equipped with an external device that provides additional computing power, and the electric pulse-controlled wristband created by CTRL-Labs is controlled, and it is advertised that the wearer can interact with others virtually through holographic images.
As for the operating system, Android is still used, not built by Meta itself. Moreover, it corresponds to 3D visual image processing, corresponding to eye gaze tracking, and includes interactive experiences generated by external cameras and sounds.
Other hardware specifications, including the prototype design of the glasses, weigh only 100 grams, and the battery life is only 4 hours. In addition, micro-LED and optical waveguide technology are added to present more detailed visual images.
However, Meta may launch augmented reality glasses code-named Hypernova at the same time, which can be paired with ordinary mobile phones, and the overall computing power requirements are not high. The actual usage mode is also closer to Google Glass, only displaying real-time notification information and other content on a small-sized screen presented from a viewing angle.
For the first augmented reality glasses, Meta does not seem to care much about the actual sales volume but hopes to attract more technology enthusiasts and developers. In turn, it will promote a more augmented reality application experience, so whether it can successfully attract the attention of these groups will become the direction that Meta pays more attention to, and even Meta expects that this product will bring a new experience.
Therefore, the first augmented reality glasses that Meta is expected to launch next will obviously not focus on the needs of the general consumer market but will create more possibilities for augmented reality applications through creators and developers.
