Members of The Dark Overlord hacker group extradited to the U.S.
Recently, a British man, Nathan Wyatt, was extradited to the United States on charges of blackmailing US companies. The man was allegedly a member of the well-known hacker group The Dark Overlord (TDO) and was recently tried in St. Louis Court. He stated in court that he pleaded not guilty.
It is understood that the hacker group has targeted US companies since 2016, stealing their data and demanding huge ransoms. The organization said that if the victims do not pay, they will sell the data on hacking forums, leak data on the public Internet, or expose violations to reporters, thereby bringing negative news reports to the company.
The organization is also known for its extreme blackmail. At the end of 2018, TDO members sent bomb threats to schools in Montana that refused to pay the ransom. After failure, TDO members began sending death threats to students. In many other cases, the organization has also threatened victims by forcing them to sign a legal contract that contains the terms of their extortion requirements and the responsibilities of the hacker and the victim.
It is reported that Wyatt had a history of hacking in Britain before the United States was sued. He had previously been arrested by British police for allegedly eavesdropping on the iCloud account of Duchess Cambridge’s sister Pippa Middleton. In addition, he has admitted that he is connected with nearly 20 fraud cases! After being sued by the United States, Wyatt has been strongly opposed to extradition to the United States for the past few months.
