MediaTek Releases Helio G36 Processor
For the entry-level gaming smartphone market, MediaTek has launched the Helio G series processors, and in 2020 launched the Helio G25, Helio G35, and Helio G37 processors. MediaTek recently launched the Helio G36 processor.
MediaTek Helio G36 adopts 12nm process technology and has eight Cortex-A53 cores with a maximum frequency of 2.2GHz;
supports LPDDR3@933MHz or LPDDR4X@1600MHz memory, the maximum capacity is 8GB; supports eMMC 5.1 flash memory. The GPU is PowerVR GE8320, with a maximum frequency of 680MHz, and supports graphics APIs such as Vulkan 1.2, OpenGL ES 3.x/2.0/1.1, and OpenCL 3.0; the maximum supported resolution is 2400×1080, and the screen refresh rate is 90Hz. In terms of wireless connection, Helio G36 supports dual 4G SIM cards, TAS 2.0 smart antenna technology can actively detect signal quality; supports WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0.
Helio G36 can support up to 50MP cameras and supports EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) and RSC (Rolling Shutter Compensation), which can mitigate warped (‘jello effect’) video when capturing fast action or panning.
Helio G36 supports Networking Engine 2.0 network engine, which can connect with the base station faster and provide a more stable network connection; supports Resource Management Engine 2.0 resource management engine, real-time detection of processor power consumption, temperature, and other indicators, intelligent dynamic management of resources, to ensure stable game frame rate.
Compared with the Helio G37, the CPU frequency of the Helio G36 is 100MHz lower, but the supported main camera specifications have been upgraded from 25MP to 50MP, and the maximum supported memory has also been upgraded from 6GB to 8GB. Helio G37 supports a maximum screen specification of 2400×1080@60Hz, and Helio 36 adds a 90Hz high refresh rate on this basis. The GPU of the two processors is PowerVR GE8320, and the frequency is also 680MHz.
