MediaTek released the Dimensity 1080 5G platform
MediaTek announced the launch of the Dimensity 1080 5G mobile platform. MediaTek said that the new platform provides a number of key technology upgrades, which will have better performance and imaging functions. At the same time, it uses advanced software and hardware technologies to help terminal manufacturers accelerate product launches.
Dimensity 1080 is manufactured using a 6nm process. The CPU consists of two Cortex-A78 large cores with a frequency of 2.6GHz and six Cortex-A55 small cores, the GPU is Arm Mali-G68, which supports LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1. It brings a smoother experience to users in application scenarios such as games, streaming media playback, and web page browsing. In addition, Dimensity 1080 supports Sub-6GHz 5G full-band high-speed network and Wi-Fi 6 connection, providing users with a smooth and stable mobile network.
Dimensity 1080 is equipped with MediaTek Imagiq ISP image processor, supports up to 200MP main camera, and also integrates a hardware-level 4K HDR video recording engine, provides excellent low-light shooting effects, and advanced imaging functions allow users to take high-quality photos and videos; MediaTek HyperEngine 3.0 game engine can bring players a high-performance, low-latency gaming experience; platform power efficiency during gaming can be further optimized with the help of MediaTek’s third-generation APU.
According to MediaTek, the Dimensity 1080 has excellent energy efficiency and can extend the battery life of smartphones. It is expected that the performance of the Dimensity 1080 will be improved to a certain extent compared to the Dimensity 920.
It is understood that the Redmi Note12 series will be equipped with the Dimensity 1080 for the first time. It is rumored that the performance is similar to that of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G, and then Realme and Honor will launch related products, which are expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2022.
