Linux distribution postmarketOS can run on iPhone 7

After the reverse engineering of the developer, postmarketOS has been ported to the iPhone 7 and successfully booted on iPhone 7. This is also the first Apple device to run postmarketOS.

Before this, no one thought that Apple’s iOS proprietary devices would have the opportunity to run Linux distro, and it took more than half a year for a group of developers to implement Linux on Apple’s A10 proprietary SoC. PostmarketOS is a free and open-source operating system under development primarily for smartphones, based on the Alpine Linux distribution. PostmarketOS was launched on May 6, 2017 with the source code available on GitLab. PostmarketOS is aiming for a 10-year life-cycle for smartphones.
