Linspire and Freespire 2019/2020 Roadmap
The development team of the GNU/Linux distributions Freespire and Linspire recently announced a new roadmap for the period 2019-2020. Based on the recently released version of Linspire 8.0, it plans to release heavy product updates in the next two years. Project leader Roberto J. Dohnert said: “This roadmap reflects development efforts and projected release dates. There may be a few incremental releases to address security flaws, system bugs and functionality. Every Service pack and incremental release will include a new ISO being issued as well.”
According to the 2019-2020 roadmap, Linspire will be the focus of future development team development. Beginning with the Linspire CE 8.0 Office 365 Edition, it is scheduled to be released on February 21, 2019. The Linspire Server 2019 Edition will be released on April 14, 2019.
In 2020, Linspire 9.0, code-named “Halloween”, enters the development phase, and the first candidate will be released on January 15, 2020.
As for Freespire, the team plans to release Freespire 4.5 on May 5 this year, and the major version update Freespire 5.0 “Coho” will be launched on November 15 this year.
