LG introduces the industry’s first 480Hz QHD gaming OLED display

LG has announced the completion of the industry’s first 480Hz QHD gaming OLED display, boasting a 27-inch size, and is set to showcase it at CES 2024. This groundbreaking design heralds a new era for ultra-high refresh rate OLED displays.

LG’s OLED displays, renowned for their unique technology, have garnered widespread acclaim from gamers. The 27-inch size is currently the most favored among gaming enthusiasts, and the QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution is ideally suited for PC gaming. Coupled with a rapid response time of 0.03ms, this OLED display is poised to provide an unparalleled gaming experience for enthusiasts.

To address the issue of insufficient brightness in OLED displays, LG has incorporated its META technology, previously used in its third-generation OLED TVs. This technology enhances image quality, featuring a Micro Lens Array (MLA) that places a focal lens in front of each pixel, significantly increasing brightness. This advancement not only surpasses previous OLED brightness and viewing angle capabilities but also delivers stunning color vibrancy. Additionally, this OLED display boasts the industry’s lowest blue light levels, approximately half that of standard high-end LCDs. This feature minimizes eye strain and eliminates flickering, offering players a more comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Earlier, LG unveiled its 2024 UltraGear OLED gaming monitors, covering a range from 32 inches to 45 inches, all set to debut at CES 2024. It is understood that the new products incorporating the 27-inch QHD @ 480Hz gaming OLED display are expected to be launched in the first half of this year.
