Intel will invest $20 billion to build a new chip factory
Intel CEO, Pat Gelsinger is formulating a variety of strategies to revitalize Intel, including a return to the Tick-Tock development strategy.
At the same time, Pat Gelsinger will also make a large-scale strategic investment, including building a new chip factory and helping other chip designers to produce advanced process chips.
Pat Gelsinger recently revealed the company’s future plans for manufacturing, design, and delivery, as well as Intel’s expansion plans for chip manufacturing.
The first is that Intel will invest 20 billion US dollars to build two new chip factories in Arizona, USA, and then it will provide chip foundry for global customers.
The company said that the establishment of a chip factory is a key competitive advantage, which can optimize products, improve economic efficiency and supply flexibility to make Intel’s revenue full of momentum.
The chip factory can not only manufacture chips for Intel itself, but Intel will also accept outsourcing services to provide chip foundry services for other chip designers.
OEM service is currently a global service that is urgently needed because the world is currently facing a core shortage problem and the existing foundry production capacity cannot be rapidly increased.
Intel plans to turn itself into a major supplier of chip foundry services. In order to realize this vision, Intel has specially established a new department called Intel Foundry Services.
This department will also be separated from Intel’s other foundry products, dedicated to combining advanced technology and packaging technology to provide customers with the top technology portfolio.
Pat Gelsinger also revealed that Intel is currently progressing well at the 7-nanometer node, and the company will provide customers with 7-nanometer products from the Q2 quarter of this year at the earliest.
