SIGGRAPH 2022 will be held from August 8th to 11th, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and some senior executives will also
give a special speech on the theme of “Illuminating the Future of Graphics”, with 20 face-to-face events planned, which seem to focus on artificial intelligence and virtual worlds. However, it is not only NVIDIA that intends to use SIGGRAPH 2022 to showcase its own graphics technology, but also Intel, which has recently struggled with graphics card plans.
Intel has made an announcement that it will debut the Arc Pro series at SIGGRAPH 2022, an Alchemist-based workstation graphics card. Although Intel has long acknowledged that it will launch a workstation GPU, this is the first time that the official Arc Pro series has been publicly acknowledged.
According to the content of the announcement, Intel should only show the entry-level Arc Pro graphics card this time, and what is more interesting is that Intel will combine its hardware ray tracing and XeSS technology in the demonstration. Since this event is geared towards discussions of academic and modern graphics technology rather than gaming, presentations do not necessarily involve gaming content.
According to Intel’s previously announced development plan, the workstation graphics cards will be released in the third quarter of 2022. Given that the graphics card for the desktop platform has been delayed, it is unclear whether the workstation graphics cards will also be delayed. Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said on the second-quarter 2022 earnings call that the Arc A5 and A7 series of desktop graphics cards will be launched in the third quarter but did not mention a specific date. Even if the Arc Pro series is released as scheduled, there is a high probability that it will be later than the desktop version.
