Intel Sapphire Rapids-WS Xeon workstation processor will be released in February next year
Intel confirmed that the new generation of Xeon data center processors will be released on January 10, 2023. The codename of the new generation of processors is Sapphire Rapids. According to Intel’s past habits, the new HEDT platform and workstation processors will also use the same core. Although it is not sure whether there will be a new Core X, there will definitely be a new Xeon W.
According to Wccftech, Intel will probably release a new generation of Sapphire Rapids-WS Xeon processors in the seventh week of 2023, that is, between February 12 and February 18, which is one month after the release of the new Xeon, and it will be on sale in April 2023.
At present, the latest Xeon W-3300 series processor has been released for more than a year. Using the Ice Lake architecture, there are only 38 cores at most. It is really a bit powerless for the 64 cores of AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper 5000WX, let alone the 96-core Ryzen Threadripper 7000WX in the future.
According to previously leaked news, the new generation of Xeon W will segment the market like Core processors, including Xeon W9, Xeon W7, Xeon W5, and Xeon W3. Each series will have subdivided models with different configurations. According to the previously disclosed specifications, there will be at least 5 models with the suffix X, and these models support overclocking.
The top Xeon W9-3495X has 56 cores and 112 threads, L3 cache up to 105MB, and TDP up to 350W, while the lower-level Xeon W9-3475X has 36 cores and 72 threads, 82.5MB L3 cache, and TDP 300W. The Xeon W7 series products include products with 28 cores to 20 cores, while the Xeon W5 only has 16 cores and 12 cores.
