Intel is expected to officially launch a 5G network modem next year
This week, Qualcomm has launched the new 5G network modem Snapdragon X55, but Qualcomm’s competitor Intel did not have much action during the year. Operators around the world are already deploying 5G mobile networks, and many mobile devices are expected to support 5G networks by the end of this year.
However, according to the Reuters news, Intel said that the company’s 5G network-enabled modem will not be officially released until next year. This means that Apple’s new iPhone series devices, which will be launched this fall, will not support 5G networks. Because Apple is unlikely to use Qualcomm now.
At present, the patent infringement between Apple and Qualcomm and related anti-monopoly lawsuits are in full swing, and Apple will definitely continue to use Intel’s equipment. However, there are also reports that Apple is negotiating 5G chips with Samsung and MediaTek, but until now, there has been no clear result for Apple’s negotiations. Intel’s 5G chips are also in development but are likely to be available to consumers until the end of the year.
