Intel Driver & Support Assistant causes a spike in CPU usage on Windows 10
Last week after some users installed the latest cumulative update for Windows 10, the system had obvious lag problems. At this time, the processor utilization rate was infinitely close to 100%.
Although not everyone installs the Intel Driver & Support Assistant, the Intel Driver & Support Assistant is also one of the reasons for the 100% processor usage.
Some users have found that the service items of the Driver & Support Assistant always occupy high processor resources, and uninstalling them can restore the processor to normal levels.
This indicates that Intel Driver & Support Assistant may be incompatible with Windows 10 cumulative updates. Intel has not yet issued an official response to this issue.
There are many solutions to this problem for the user, but the user needs to confirm the specific reason for the abnormal usage of processor resources.
If you open the Task Manager and show that the Intel Driver Support Assistant takes up a high usage rate, you can directly uninstall the Intel Driver Support Assistant.
If it is occupied by other processes, especially core system processes such as local services, the problem can only be temporarily solved by uninstalling the newly installed cumulative update.
For now, the reason for the surge in processor resource utilization is not just Intel Driver Support Assistant, so this may also require an official Microsoft solution.
