Intel discontinues 11th-generation Core and 500-series mobile chipsets
Although Tiger Lake may not represent Intel’s finest processor, this product, fabricated using the 10nm SuperFin process and featuring the Iris Xe integrated graphics, has supplanted Ice Lake since 2020, powering Intel’s mobile devices and SFF systems, enabling Intel to endure the arduous period preceding the Alder Lake release. With the advent of Raptor Lake and the imminent arrival of Meteor Lake, Intel is prepared to bid farewell to the Tiger Lake product line entirely.
In April of this year, Intel began to discontinue numerous 11th-generation Core products constructed around Tiger Lake, affecting the 45W Tiger Lake-H45, Xeon W series, and the entirety of the Tiger Lake B series. According to TomsHardware, from June 5, 2023, the remaining Tiger Lake products also enter the EOL (End-Of-Life) phase, including the 35W Tiger Lake-H35, Tiger Lake-UP3, and Tiger Lake-UP4, concurrently discontinuing the 500 series mobile chipsets, namely the HM570, WM590, and QM580 chipsets.
Customers in need can place their final orders prior to October 27, 2023, with Intel fulfilling the discontinued Tiger Lake by December 29, 2023. Furthermore, the 500 series mobile chipsets will also be dispatched before June 28, 2024.
However, it should be noted that there will be no immediate changes for embedded products, which are built on Tiger Lake-UP3 and corresponding 500 series mobile chipsets (including RM590E, HM570E, and QM580E). The relevant terms and prices will take effect for all customers after June 28, 2024. Compared to client processors, embedded processors typically have a longer lifespan, as this type of market necessitates long-term support.
