Lab501 got a sample of the flagship Intel Core i9 12900HK mobile processor, which has 6P+8E and a total of 20 threads, 24MB L3 cache, the highest turbo frequency can reach 5GHz, the basic power is 45W. Lab501 didn’t reveal the model of the test machine, but it came with 32GB of DDR5-4800 RAM and used dual M.2 SSDs for Raid 0, and this machine was equipped with an RTX 3080 Ti graphics card. But since there is no driver, it cannot be fully tested.
According to Intel’s official data, the Core i9-12900HK is far superior to the previous generation Core i9-11980HK, AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX, and Apple’s M1 Max processor in terms of energy consumption ratio. In terms of gaming, the Core i9-12900HK based on the Alder Lake architecture is 28% faster than the Core i9-11900HK of the previous generation Tiger Lake.
The Cinebench R20 score of the Core i9-12900HK is 16.8% higher than the previous generation Core i9-11980HK, and its running score has surpassed the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X, and the Blender 2.78c test is 16.5% faster than the previous generation. The Winrar test is 29.7% higher than the previous generation. The performance also outperforms the rival Ryzen 9 5900HX, but since there is no leak of the Ryzen 9 6980HX based on the Zen 3+ architecture, it is not clear who is stronger in this generation of Intel and AMD.
According to software records, the highest frequency of Intel Core i9 12900HK can reach 4.988GHz, the highest CPU Package power consumption is 113W, the average power consumption is 63W, the highest CPU temperature is 99°C, and the average temperature is 76°C.
