Intel CEO’s Open Letter to the GPU Crisis
Previously, PC Gamer wrote an open letter to Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger, calling on Intel to address the long-standing problem of insufficient supply and excessive premiums in the graphics card market. Raja Koduri, Intel senior vice president, chief architect, and general manager of the architecture, graphics, and software division, responded to the open letter on social platforms. What the letter says is a huge problem, both for PC gamers and for the industry as a whole. Intel is working hard to find a way to achieve this mission of putting millions of gaming graphics cards into the hands of PC gamers every year.
Recently, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger also publicly responded to the relevant content, saying that Intel is working hard. Although it may not be difficult to say a few nice words, and there are not too many words to appease PC players, the statements of the two principals at least express Intel’s positive attitude. However, it remains to be seen how much influence Intel will have on the market after the release of the Intel Arc brand of Alchemist graphics cards. At present, many people are skeptical about whether Intel can change the supply situation of the PC’s discrete graphics card market. This is not surprising, after all, Intel’s GPUs also use the production capacity of TSMC’s N6 process technology, which itself is already stretched in production capacity allocation and may not be able to meet the promised supply. In addition, Intel has so far not stated whether it will add restrictions similar to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 LHR series on the GPU, resulting in these new graphics cards not eventually flowing to PC players, and the so-called help will be very limited.
