Intel CEO says AMD is “in the Rear-View Mirror” in the client market
Recently, Pat Gelsinger posted a video online to celebrate the first anniversary of being named Intel CEO. Compared to his predecessor, Pat Gelsinger seems to be a leader who likes to speak his mind very much and has often appeared in media reports in the past year. This relatively less cautious approach has also brought some controversy, which can easily lead to online debates.
In the video, Pat Gelsinger looks back on 2021 and looks ahead to 2022, outlining what he has seen and achieved. Pat Gelsinger says new leadership spurs Intel’s rapid pace of transformation and change. Among Intel’s key products launched during this time, the most important is the Alder Lake processor.
Pat Gelsinger said that since the introduction of Alder Lake processors, Intel is back in the game, while AMD is “in the Rear-View Mirror” of the client market, never again in front of the windshield, Intel has led the market again. Pat Gelsinger believes Intel is uniquely positioned to capture the demands of the next phase of computing market workloads.
Pat Gelsinger emphasized the long-term goals previously set, such as the semiconductor process roadmap announced last year, which involved Intel 7, Intel 4, Intel 3, Intel 20A, and Intel 18A five process nodes. These technology R&D efforts are well underway and will drive Intel’s new product development through 2025 and beyond.
