Intel announced the permanent discontinuation of its 9th Gen Coffee Lake desktop CPU
At present, Intel’s consumer-grade desktop processors have entered the 10th generation Core, which is also the main processor that Intel is currently increasing its production capacity to meet the supply.
Since the new version has become the main product, there is no need for the old version to exist, so Intel recently announced the permanent discontinuation of the 9th generation Core series processors.
This series of processors involves 117 SKUs including boxed version/bulk version. Intel plans to discontinue all these products before the end of this year to complete the transition.
The 9th generation Core series processors are new products launched by Intel in the Q4 quarter of 2020, including the well-known 8-core 16-thread i9-9900K processor.
It is worth noting that this series of processors still does not solve the speculative execution vulnerabilities of the Spectre and Meltdown series contained in Intel Turbo Boost technology that requires additional security updates.
It wasn’t until the 10th-generation Core series processors that this problem was completely resolved, so Intel’s decision to completely discontinue the 9th-generation series was a very trusty choice.
