Intel announced new Core Ultra series processor products
Following the recent confirmation that their forthcoming processor, code-named ‘Meteor Lake‘, will adopt the novel designation of ‘Core Ultra’, Intel has ceremoniously announced the introduction of the Core Ultra series to their Core processor lineup. In doing so, they have underlined that the ‘Meteor Lake’ processor will emphasize power efficiency and artificial intelligence applications.
Subsequent to this nomenclatural revision, the Core Ultra series will be positioned as the provider of processors with superior performance capabilities. It will establish a clearer product demarcation from the mainstream Core series processors. Concurrently, the ‘i’ suffix, previously appended to the Core name, will cease to be retained.
The conventional numerical distinctions ‘3’, ‘5’, ‘7’, and ‘9’ denoting performance levels will be employed in the Core Ultra series processors. This suggests an expanded scope of Intel’s processor offerings. Additionally, the introduction of the Intel Core Ultra series processors signals that there will be a broader array of options available for their Evo-certified laptop products.
In relation to its commercial model product line, Intel has announced the addition of two identifying labels: vPro Enterprise and vPro Essentials, utilized for commercial model-level segregation.
As per previous disclosures, Intel indicated that the ‘Meteor Lake’ processor will be produced with the Intel 4 process and is expected to be launched in the latter half of this year. It will adopt the novel Flexible Tiled architecture design, compatible with the BGA 2551 socket. It will feature a hybrid core design of Redwood Cove P Core and Crestmont E Core, low power consumption characteristics, and will integrate the next generation tGPU design based on the Alchemist display architecture, as well as the VPU artificial intelligence accelerator component formerly used in Movidius products.
