INNO3D officially releases RTX 4070 Twin X2 OC
INNO3D has formally announced the launch of the GeForce RTX 4070 Twin X2 OC, their inaugural graphics card featuring a concealed power supply design. This novel design introduces a fresh perspective on cable management, aptly catering to motherboards that prefer the rear-routing of cables. This product’s design will not seem unfamiliar to many, especially since INNO3D unveiled related plans at Computex 2023. The forthcoming GeForce RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4060 will also feature this identical design ethos.
The merits of concealing power cables on the graphics card are manifold, not merely aesthetic. By positioning the power cables behind the card, there’s ample space for bending cables, simplifying the assembly process. Additionally, it facilitates superior cable management and notably enhances the PC’s overall appearance. In fact, both motherboard and case manufacturers have already started adopting this approach, as the concealed power cable design not only reduces wiring challenges but also offers a more visually appealing aesthetic.
The GeForce RTX 4070 Twin X2 OC comes with a partially detachable backplate. Users can lift half of the backplate to connect the 8-pin power cable, maintaining the card’s sleek and streamlined appearance. Given that all of INNO3D’s concealed power design graphics cards sport a pristine white facade, pairing them with white modular cables yields a more harmonious, aesthetically pleasing setup.
It’s evident that INNO3D opted not to adopt the newer 12+4Pin 12VHPWR interface, instead aligning with GPUs that have relatively lower power requirements (below 200W). This is largely due to the newer power cables having stricter bending constraints, leading to potential installation inaccuracies, increased installation complexity, and potential safety risks.
As user demands for superior cable management and visual aesthetics escalate, it’s anticipated that more graphics card manufacturers will contemplate the concealed power design.
INNO3D has yet to disclose the retail price and specific release date for the GeForce RTX 4070 Twin X2 OC.
