IBM launches mainframe with new security technology
Recently, IBM released a mainframe called IBM z15. The product protects sensitive user data in a mixed, cloudy environment. IBM said the IBM z15 can handle up to 1 trillion online web transactions per day. This product not only supports massive databases but also has 12% and 25% more cores and memory than previous generations. In addition, the product’s delay time is reduced to one-third of the previous generation.

IBM z15 introduced a new technology called “Data Privacy Passport”, which provides end-to-end data protection, allowing users to encrypt data and assign data access rights. This technology helps organizations provide privacy policies based on user needs and keep track of them. “Data Privacy Passport” can be used not only on the z15 platform but also on LinuxONE III Linux server hardware.
“IBM Z is an essential component for addressing top concerns around hybrid cloud like security, privacy and agility. With z15, our clients can have the cloud they want, with the privacy and security they need – protection for both traditional mission-critical workloads and newer workloads like digital asset custody or blockchain,” said Ross Mauri, GM of IBM Z.
Mauri added, “The reality is that for clients whose businesses depend on access to data in real time, IBM Z remains the go to choice. Often, our clients need access to data and analytic insights in a fraction of a second – not minutes, with the ability to control privacy of that data at a granular level.”
At the same time, IBM also introduced the DS8900F enterprise storage system, which ensures the security, data availability and flexibility of a critical hybrid cloud environment.
