Huawei launches Huawei Search in the UAE to replace Google Search app
Due to the impact of the ban, Huawei has not been able to pre-install GMS services for its new mobile phones for a long time. Although this is not a big deal for Chinese users, it is a gigantic one for Huawei overseas users. Many Huawei fans and developers have been tossing over how to install GMS services for their Huawei phones for several months, but this is not easy.
For Huawei, the biggest impact is that the revenue of the overseas mobile terminal business has declined. After all, GMS services are indispensable to overseas users.
Recently, Huawei has also been developing its own HMS service for several months, and it has officially debuted overseas recently. However, in general, there is still a long way to go before HMS services surpass GMS services. After all, the GMS service is the result of Google’s years of hard work. It is not realistic for the HMS service to surpass the GMS service in the short term, and the HMS service still lacks one of the core applications of the GMS service-“Google”.
The “Google” application is not a simple search application for Android users. It also introduces features that users like, such as Google Assistant and Google Lens, but users of Huawei phones can’t use these features because their phones do n’t have HMS service.
Fortunately, Huawei is also working on this. At present, they have launched a beta application called “Huawei Search” in the United Arab Emirates.
However, unfortunately, the overall level of “Huawei Search” is still not good. XDA forum netizens installed and tested that the app did not meet his expectations.
Currently, “Huawei Search” only provides five functions: web search service, weather query service, sports information service, unit conversion, and calculator. The application also supports application information search. However, only Huawei’s own applications are currently supported.
