HP launches new Spectre Fold: Equipped with a 17-inch folding screen

HP has unveiled the new Spectre Fold, aiming to redefine the multifaceted nature of PCs with this avant-garde trinity device. Boasting a 17-inch foldable display, it seamlessly amalgamates the functionalities of a laptop, tablet, and desktop, delivering an unparalleled blended work experience.

The Spectre Fold deftly transitions among three distinctive form factors, leveraging its foldable screen and integrated hinge. It evolves from a conventional 12.3-inch laptop to a svelte 17-inch tablet, and finally to a desktop with a built-in stand, providing a user experience that transcends traditional laptop norms. HP asserts that the Spectre Fold stands as the world’s inaugural foldable PC with a physical keyboard (a magnetically attached Bluetooth variant) and one-and-a-half screens, adapting seamlessly to a myriad of user-centric work modalities, pushing the envelope of design and technological innovation.

The Spectre Fold is encased in a matte “slate blue” magnesium alloy finish, weighing in at 1354 grams. It’s graced with an OLED touchscreen, a 3:4 aspect ratio, a resolution of 1920 x 2560, and an SDR/HDR brightness of 400/500 nits. Its color accuracy is impeccable with 99.5% DCI-P3, further complemented by the VESA True Black HDR 500 certification. At its core, the device is powered by the Intel Core i7-1250U processor, designed with 2P+8E architecture, peaking at a turbo frequency of 4.7 GHz. This is paired with 16GB of LPDDR5-5200 RAM and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. The Spectre Fold also incorporates HP’s exclusive GlamCam, a 94.3Whr battery promising up to 12 hours of endurance, and supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, rounded off with two USB4 ports.

HP emphasizes that the Spectre Fold embodies its commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable innovation, incorporating eco-friendly materials into the product design. This includes a chassis and keyboard framework composed of up to 90% recycled metals, a keyboard module crafted from reclaimed polyester fibers, and bezels and keycaps that contain 50% post-consumer recycled plastics. The device has also garnered the EPEAT Gold and Energy Star certifications.

Currently, the Spectre Fold is available for pre-order in the US at a commencement price of $4999.99. Set for an official release next month, it will also be launched in select countries and regions later this year.
