HP and Microsoft release HP Battery Health Manager to HP notebooks
Hewlett-Packard has jointly launched a new Windows 10 optional update with Microsoft. The optional update is mainly for HP series notebook computer products.
This optional update is mainly accompanied by a new feature called HP Battery Health Manager, which is a battery optimization algorithm developed by HP specifically for HP notebook computers.
According to HP, after enabling this feature, the device will automatically optimize battery life through a new charging algorithm, while significantly improving the overall battery life.
Of course, this optional update will only be available for supported HP laptop computers, and some older HP laptops will not receive this update.
HP said the battery health manager will record the user’s device usage habits, and then optimize the battery charging and discharging behavior according to the built-in HP battery algorithm.
This sounds similar to the battery health Apple recently introduced for the MacBook, which essentially uses algorithms to control charging to improve battery life.
In fact, many HP series laptops support battery health managers, but most devices do not enable this health function by default.
So the update launched this time is essential to update and turn on the function, without the user having to manually go to the BIOS to find the corresponding option and then turn it on.
For supported HP laptops, you will see this update in the system update or optional update, and other brands of laptops will not see this update. Of course, if you have an HP laptop but do not see a similar update, it means that your device does not support it.
Since this optional update is used to update the battery charging algorithm, installing this update on an unsupported device may break the original normal algorithm.
HP emphasizes that the KB4583263 update is only for the installation of HP series notebook computers. If installed on unsupported devices, it may cause battery aging.
If it is serious, it may cause the battery to swell which is a potential risk, so if you check the update and see this update, do not force it to install.
