Hogwarts Legacy surpasses Elden Ring sales in the UK

“Hogwarts Legacy” is an immersive open-world action role-playing game developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Games, featuring a narrative set within the world of the “Harry Potter” series. Released on February 10th, 2023, the game is available on PC and console platforms, with the PC version supporting ray-traced shadows, reflections, and ambient occlusion, as well as NVIDIA’s latest DLSS 3.

Since its announcement, “Hogwarts Legacy” has enjoyed immense popularity, with many players eagerly anticipating the opportunity to experience unfettered broomstick flight and even the ability to upgrade and customize their own broomsticks. Although other games have been crafted around the Harry Potter theme, none have come close to matching the allure of “Hogwarts Legacy.”

As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, “Hogwarts Legacy” has been particularly well-received in the United Kingdom, Harry Potter’s homeland, with sales surpassing those of the wildly popular “Elden Ring” in just five weeks—a feat that likely exceeded most expectations. With forthcoming releases on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch platforms, sales figures are expected to climb even higher.

The “Hogwarts Legacy” official team expressed their gratitude to fans for their support via social media, noting that the development team is working diligently to provide the best experience on all platforms, requiring more time to achieve this goal. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are set to launch on May 5th, while the Nintendo Switch edition is slated for release on July 25th.

According to previous SteamDB data, “Hogwarts Legacy” reached a peak concurrent player count of 879,000 on the Steam platform, ranking within the top three single-player games, trailing only “Cyberpunk 2077” (1.054 million) and “Elden Ring” (953,000).
