Hogwarts Legacy has grossed over $1.3 billion
Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive, open-world action role-playing game, masterfully crafted by Avalanche Software and published under the auspices of Warner Bros. Games. This game, embodying the setting of the renowned “Harry Potter” series, graced the PC and console platforms on the 10th of February, 2023. The PC rendition of Hogwarts Legacy boasts features such as ray-tracing shadows, reflections, ambient occlusion, and the state-of-the-art DLSS 3 technology from Nvidia.
According to a report by Seeking Alpha, David Zaslav, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, revealed during an investor teleconference that Hogwarts Legacy has raked in over 1.3 billion US dollars in revenue.
Zaslav opined, “We don’t want to put a movie out or a game out unless we think it’s our best work. Even if we do that, half the time or 2/3 of the time, it’s not going to work. But that’s the new cultural philosophy of the company. We’re a storytelling company. The best creatives fight to make our content the best it could be.”
Earlier this month, Warner Bros. Discovery professed that the retail revenue for Hogwarts Legacy has exceeded one billion US dollars, not inclusive of digital versions, which purportedly account for about half of the total sales. The aforementioned figure of 1.3 billion US dollars likely does not include the subsequently launched PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, but rather pertains to the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S versions released in February of this year. To date, the cumulative sales of Hogwarts Legacy have surpassed 15 million units.
In a recent turn of events, the Nintendo Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy has been delayed, pushing back the release date from July 25th of this year to November 14th.
