Grand Theft Auto VI may be released between April 2024 and March 2025
As of September this year, a decade has passed since the initial release of “Grand Theft Auto V” on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. As a prominent title within Rockstar Games’ lineup, numerous enthusiasts have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of “Grand Theft Auto VI.” In February 2022, Rockstar Games verified the existence of the sequel and stated that development was underway.
Recently, an analyst conjectured based on Take-Two’s projected volumes for the fiscal year 2024 (April 2023 to March 2024), that “Grand Theft Auto VI” might be launched before April 2024. However, Take-Two clarified during an earnings call that the net bookings for the fiscal year 2024 would be approximately $5.5 billion, not vastly different from the $5.28 billion of the fiscal year 2023, and far less than the previous estimate of $9 billion. This provides a certain degree of assurance that “Grand Theft Auto VI” will not be released within this fiscal year.
In the same report, Take-Two declared that the fiscal year 2025 will establish new industry standards, with net bookings projected to exceed $8 billion. Its CEO, Strauss Zelnick, characterized this as a “highly anticipated year,” during which the company intends to introduce several “groundbreaking” games. This could hint at the launch of “Grand Theft Auto VI” within the fiscal year 2025, specifically between April 2024 and March 2025.
Previous reports suggest that “Grand Theft Auto VI” could become the most expensive game ever produced, with a budget ranging between $1 billion and $2 billion, inclusive of the initial development funds and anticipated marketing costs. Much like “Grand Theft Auto V” and “Red Dead Redemption 2,” “Grand Theft Auto VI” is considered a high-risk, high-return project.
