GPU frequency of Arc A380 has been increased by 7.5% after upgrading the driver
Recently, Intel unveiled the Arc graphics card driver version 31.0.101.4644. This latest iteration demonstrates an approximate 19% frame rate enhancement in a range of popular DX11 games when compared to the inaugural 3490 version. Additionally, Intel’s driver updates often include firmware enhancement capabilities, seamlessly updating the graphics card BIOS. Sometimes, such BIOS updates bring unexpected bonuses.
Users on the Neowin forum discovered that after updating the driver, the Asrock Arc A380 graphics card experienced a GPU frequency surge from 2000MHz to 2150MHz, marking a 7.5% increase. Consequently, the pixel and texture fill rates also rose from 64 GPixel/s and 128 GTexel/s to 68.8 GPixel/s and 137.6 GTexel/s, respectively.
Upon closely examining the GPU-Z screenshot, one can discern that after the driver update, the BIOS version transitioned from 1053 to 1064. This sheds light on why the GPU frequency underwent modification. Moreover, during the BIOS update process on the graphics card, users aren’t required to reboot or shut down their system, indicating that the BIOS might have been updated without the user’s realization.
Although the frequency boost in the Arc A380’s performance might not manifest significant differences in gaming, who would decline a complimentary performance enhancement?
