Google Translate adds 24 new languages, adopts new learning methods
Google Translate has always been a very important product of Google, the purpose is to eliminate the communication gap between languages, so that knowledge and emotions can be more easily communicated. In this Google I/O 2022, Google also listed Google Translate as a key update project, announced the addition of support for 24 new languages, and also announced the launch of a new training mode. In turn, Google Translate can have more application possibilities, and even smart glasses that integrate the Google Translate function have been proposed, allowing users of different languages to communicate through real-time translation.
At the same time, Google also stated that compared with the past, translation is performed by means of comparison, that is, learning is performed through common texts in two languages. In theory, as long as the number of reference texts is sufficient, the actual translation quality will be relatively improved, but this method is used for languages that are used by fewer people. Obviously, it will be distorted, and the factors may cause errors in the translation process by referring to the cross-language translation results.
Therefore, at present, Google’s technology is to establish a new language model, so that the translation system can learn the way the human brain understands the language, so as to learn the new language faster and perform a mutual translation with the existing learning language.
In addition to improving the quality of Google Translate, Google has also applied the new version of Google Translate to more services, such as adding the function of automatically generating translated subtitles for the mobile version of YouTube.
