Google Store began selling Fitbit smart wearable products

In November 2019, Google acquired Fitbit, which was facing operating difficulties at the time, at a cost of $2.1 billion. However, due to the many markets in which Fitbit has landed, it was not until recently that Google officially completed its acquisition of Fitbit.

The media believes that Fitbit has pioneered wearable smart devices and has always been regarded as the strongest competitor of Apple’s wearable devices, and it is the leader of wearable devices in the world.

After completing the acquisition of Fitbit, Google began selling Fitbit products, such as Versa 3, Sense, Inspire 2, and Charge 4, in the Google Store this week.

Google stated on the page that “Meet Fitbit. Now a member of the Google family“, but we are not sure whether Google will build wearable products of Google’s existing brands based on the acquired Fitbit patents and technologies. In other words, will Google “kill” the Fitbit brand and replace it with the Pixel brand.

Although Google has not yet publicly responded to this speculation, it seems that Google should not do so in the short term, because previous insiders revealed that the Google Pixel smartwatch project developed by Google was cut off when it was about to be completed.

Due to Google’s poor performance in the smartphone market, the company’s hardware products have shifted its focus to IoT devices and wearable devices. So wearable devices will become a focus of Google’s hardware products in the future.
