Google registers new trademark Pigweed, new operating system
Google’s most successful operating system is, of course, Android, and Google also has ChromeOS and Fuchsia. Android and ChromeOS are built on the open-source Linux kernel, while Fuchsia uses a new kernel developed by Google itself.
It is interesting that a Reddit user found that Google even started to apply for a new operating system trademark. The operating system’s name is Pigweed, which is the plant name of amaranth.
Unfortunately, we don’t know anything about this new operating system other than its name, because Google hasn’t disclosed any related news so far.
After a search by the media, it was found that the Fuchsia operating system had the name of amaranth. At that time, it was only mentioned that the name did not have any project code.
What’s more interesting is that the name of amaranth in the Fuchsia source code is likely to be a typo, because Google then deleted the name from the source code.
Of course, this does not prove that the amaranth operating system and the Fuchsia operating system are involved, after all, although the latter has not been officially announced, it is also in full swing.
That is to say, at least Fuchsia is still visible and tangible in the project progress, and the Amaranth operating system has been exposed to the public for the first time so far.
