Google Fiber offers 8,000 Mbps broadband for $150 per month

According to an announcement by Google Fiber, the company has commenced providing 8,000 Mbps broadband service in West Des Moines, Iowa, having previously offered 1,000 Mbps, 2,000 Mbps, and 5,000 Mbps plans.

The new 8,000 Mbps package, like its predecessors, boasts symmetrical upload and download speeds, with no restrictions on data usage or throttling after a certain monthly data limit has been reached.

Customers who upgrade to or subscribe to the 8,000 Mbps plan will receive a complimentary WiFi 6 router, two Mesh routers, 1 TB of Google storage space, and free installation.

Google Fiber now offers 8,000 Mbps broadband for $150 per month, with symmetrical speeds and unlimited usage.

Established for several years, Google Fiber has been providing high-speed internet services to densely populated areas through its proprietary fiber optic system. Recently, the company seems to have resumed its expansion, signing new agreements to build high-speed fiber networks in select U.S. cities.

The firm also plans to offer 10 Gbps or 10,000 Mbps broadband service. In theory, this should pose no significant challenge to Google Fiber, as the primary concern lies in backend system development. After all, utilizing existing infrastructure to provide such high-speed connections is relatively straightforward.
