Gigabyte Unveiled RTX 4090 WindForce V2
Recently, a Gigabyte graphics card known as the “GeForce RTX 4090 WindForce V2” has discreetly appeared on the official website. As a revised version of the previous WindForce models, it may not offer the best custom design, but it likely boasts the most superior power supply interface design.
The majority of non-public GeForce RTX 4080/4090 graphics cards have a PCB that accounts for merely half or two-thirds of the total card length, reserving the remaining space for the cooling module. The cooler part of the card at the rear extends along the PCB. According to VideoCardz, the tail of the GeForce RTX 4090 WindForce V2 has a recessed section, making room for the rear-facing 12VHPWR power supply interface rather than placing it on top as is customary with most cards.
This design is particularly beneficial for gamers, as the wiring becomes incredibly convenient. The power supply cable doesn’t require substantial bending in a confined space, thus reducing connector stress. Even if using only the adapter included with the graphics card, the appearance remains neat and tidy. This approach is reminiscent of the “wireless” card solutions previously announced by Inno3D and Palit, which share a similar concept, albeit with variations in direction and design details. All of these are devised with superior connectivity and cabling in mind.
As a WindForce series product, Gigabyte doesn’t set excessively high factory frequencies for the GeForce RTX 4090 WindForce V2. However, it still comes equipped with dual BIOS, allowing users to switch between OC mode and silent mode. Compared to its predecessor, the GeForce RTX 4090 WindForce V2 retains the same length but is shorter, dropping from 15cm to 13.6cm, and thinner, with the thickness decreasing from 7cm to 5.5cm.
