Germany’s top operators choose Huawei to help them build 5G networks
Recently, Telefonica Deutschland, one of Germany’s top mobile operators, chose Huawei and Nokia to build a 5G network. It is understood that the telecommunications company chose Huawei and Nokia mainly to establish its wireless access network.
This move is potential neglect for the US government, which has been ravaging its allies in an effort to prevent Huawei from entering the 5G network. The United States insists that Huawei has security risks, saying that its equipment may be used by China for espionage. Huawei has repeatedly and consistently denied the allegations. Surveys have shown mixed attitudes towards Huawei. Japan and Australia have banned Huawei from entering their national markets, while the UK has not yet made a final decision.
The German government decided in October that it would not exclude Huawei from its market. But it has proposed a draft security guide for 5G equipment, which could mean that vendors’ equipment needs to be certified before it can be put into use. Deutsche Telekom said it is currently awaiting government approval and has not yet determined which company to choose to build its 5G core business.
