Samsung released the Galaxy S21 FE early last year, but the timing, configuration, and price were all embarrassing, and it didn’t succeed like the Galaxy S20 FE. Samsung then even canceled the Galaxy S22 FE, shelving the product line. However, with the decline in demand for smartphones, there have been recent reports that Samsung has begun to consider adjusting its Galaxy product line, and the Galaxy S23 FE will return to replace some of the Galaxy A series product lines.
Recently, Twitter user
@OreXda revealed that Samsung will bring the Galaxy S23 FE, equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 platform. This is an SoC familiar to many users. It is manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm process. The CPU part is a three-cluster architecture of 1+3+4, which consists of one Cortex-X2, three Cortex-A710, and four Cortex-A510, and is equipped with the Snapdragon X65 5G baseband.
The reason for choosing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ platform is that on the one hand, its price is lower than the current high-end flagship second-generation Snapdragon 8 platform. On the other hand, this SoC is very mature and its performance is not bad. If the Galaxy S23 FE chooses the second-generation Snapdragon 8 platform, it may weaken the competitiveness of other Galaxy S23 series models.
The specific pricing of the Galaxy S23 FE is not yet clear. The current starting price of the Galaxy S23 series in the United States is $799.99, and it is reported that the Galaxy S23 FE may be reduced by $150 to $649.99. In addition to changing to the Snapdragon 8+ platform, the body material and camera configuration will also be reduced, but this is expected.
