G9, G8, G6: Unveiling the Future of Gaming – Samsung’s Odyssey OLED Lineup
Samsung has announced that its new Odyssey series of OLED gaming monitors will make its debut at CES 2024, offering gamers products with enhanced performance and visual clarity. This series includes several models: the Odyssey OLED G9 (model G95SD), Odyssey OLED G8 (model G80SD), and Odyssey OLED G6 (model G60SD).
The Odyssey OLED G9 (model G95SD) features a 49-inch curved OLED screen, with a resolution of 5120 × 1440 (DQHD), a refresh rate of 240Hz, and a response time (GtG) of 0.03ms. It supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and has received VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 400 certification. Additionally, it incorporates Samsung Smart TV, Samsung Gaming Hub, and Core Lighting+. The monitor is equipped with two HDMI 2.1 ports and one DP 1.4 port, along with USB hub functionality.
The Odyssey OLED G8 (model G80SD) boasts a 32-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 3840 × 2160 (UHD), and its specifications are largely similar to those of the G9. The Odyssey OLED G6 (model G60SD) features a 27-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2560 × 1440 (DQHD) and a refresh rate of 360Hz, with other specifications closely matching the G9.
All these monitors are compatible with VESA standard mount installations and come with adjustable stands supporting height adjustments, tilting, swiveling, and pivot movements. Somewhat disappointingly, these new OLED gaming monitors do not come equipped with DisplayPort 2.1 ports, suggesting that Samsung might be waiting for later updates this year. Notably, all three models support Core Lighting+, emitting ambient light from the back of the monitor to enhance the gaming and movie-watching experience.
Samsung has not yet disclosed the pricing or specific release dates for these new products.
