Forspoken has been postponed to January 24, 2023
Square Enix’s adventure game Forspoken is the first PC game to use DirectStorage technology, and the second game confirmed to support FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0. It uses the Luminous Engine and also supports technologies such as Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO), Screen Space Reflection (SSR), and Ray Traced Shadows (RTS). At the GDC 2022 event earlier this year, Luminous Production, the studio responsible for game development, used Forspoken to demonstrate Microsoft’s DirectStorage technology.
Forspoken was originally released in the spring and summer of 2022. The earliest plan was May 25, 2022, but the official announced in March this year that it would be postponed to October 11, 2022, citing the need for more time to improve the game experience. But today, the official announcement again that Forspoken has been postponed, and the new release time is January 24, 2023.
The official said in the announcement that this was a decision after discussions with major partners. At present, all game elements have been completed, and the development is in the final polishing stage. In addition to PC, Forspoken will also land on PlayStation 5. It is uncertain whether it will land on Xbox Series X/S in the future. After all, the DirectStorage technology itself was first applied to Microsoft’s game console.
