Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster will be released on April 19, 2023, for PS4 and Switch
Square Enix has announced that the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster will be released on April 19, 2023, for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch platforms.
The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster encompasses the first six installments of the Final Fantasy series and has previously been made available for PC and mobile platforms. Individual game pricing is as follows: $11.99 for Final Fantasy I and II and $17.99 for Final Fantasy III through VI. The complete collection of all six games is priced at $74.99.
Square Enix has upgraded and enhanced the original games’ visuals in the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster, significantly improving image quality while introducing 3D models for characters and environments to better align with modern gaming standards. Retaining the original gameplay, new mechanics such as auto-save, fast-forward mode, and adjustable difficulty have been added to increase playability. Moreover, Square Enix has upgraded the in-game music to a higher quality, allowing players to toggle between the original and remastered soundtracks, disable random encounters, and freely adjust experience points and gold drops.
Nintendo is currently accepting pre-orders, with purchasers before May 25 receiving Final Fantasy-themed wallpapers—two per game. Sony players will have to wait for the official release.
