Epic Games Demonstrates Realistic Effects with Unreal Engine 5.2 Technology
At GDC 2023, Epic Games showcased realistic effects presented by Unreal Engine 5.2 and announced that more game developers will use Unreal Engine 5 to create their game works. Prior to this, many game developers have confirmed that they will use Unreal Engine 5 to develop content, including Game Science, which is developing “Black Myth: Wukong”, SEGA, which will use Unreal Engine 5 to create more AAA games, and CD Projekt Red, which will use Unreal Engine 5 to develop a new game in “The Witcher” series that will be released after this summer.
During the “State of Unreal” keynote speech at GDC 2023, Epic Games further demonstrated how to quickly construct and adjust 3D realistic environments using Unreal Engine 5.2, and revealed that developers such as Cubit Studios, Kabam, HEXWORKS, and NCSOFT have already used Unreal Engine 5 technology to create their game works.
In addition, Epic Games also announced the launch of the Creator Economy 2.0 creation tool for Fortnite, allowing creators to receive a 40% revenue share from their works. They will also release a universal 3D material called “Fab”, with a revenue share of up to 88%, allowing creators to sell their created 3D models, materials, sounds, effects, or digital human content created using MetaHuman Animator tools, and use them in various 3D games, game engines, metaverse platforms, etc.
