End Stuttering: MSI Guide Optimizes Intel CPUs for Gaming

Following ASUS’s initiative to launch a new version of BIOS for their Z790/690 motherboards to address instability issues with Intel’s 13th and 14th generation Core processors during gaming, MSI has also recently released a new BIOS guide. This guide instructs MSI motherboard users on how to reset the CPU power consumption, current, and voltage to default values to enhance processor stability during gaming.

In the guide, MSI focuses on the Core i9-13900K and Core i9-14900K, which have been most prone to issues. Users are directed to first select the “Boxed Cooler (PL1: 253W)” option in the BIOS OC module’s “CPU Cooler Tuning” setting to revert the CPU’s power consumption to the default 253W. Subsequently, by choosing the “Intel Default” option under “CPU Lite Load Control,” the CPU voltage is restored to Intel’s factory settings, thereby standardizing the processor’s power consumption, current, and voltage to optimize the gaming experience for the Core i9-13900K and Core i9-14900K.

Furthermore, the guide notes that if users wish to reduce the CPU voltage, they can select the “Normal” option in the “CPU Lite Load Control,” and from there, choose different voltage modes starting with “Mode 15” and gradually decrease the voltage; or select the “Advanced” mode to manually input the desired CPU voltage.

To date, Intel has not issued any public statements or definitive solutions concerning the stability issues with the 13th and 14th generation Core processors, but has initiated an investigation. Previously, numerous users reported experiencing game crashes, stuttering, black screens, and incomplete support for RTX HDR functions while using the GeForce Game Ready 552.12 WHQL driver, issues which NVIDIA has partially attributed to Intel.
