Elon Musk revealed to hire a female successor as Twitter CEO
Having previously queried the public about the propriety of stepping down as Twitter’s CEO and even intimating that he would relinquish his role to any willing successor, Elon Musk recently disclosed on his personal Twitter account that he has identified a suitable candidate. He further unveiled that this female successor is set to assume her role within the next six weeks.
Musk, however, refrained from divulging the identity of this female successor, merely stating that he would retain his position as Chairman of Twitter’s Board of Directors, while transitioning into the role of Chief Technology Officer, overseeing the product services and software system operations of Twitter in the future.
The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, speculated that the probable successor to the CEO of Twitter might be Linda Yaccarino, the head of advertising at NBCUniversal, who shares a certain rapport with Musk. For instance, numerous industry players suspended their advertising collaborations following Musk’s takeover of Twitter, yet NBCUniversal remained committed, signing a deal with Twitter for the live broadcast of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
However, even in the event of Musk’s departure as Twitter’s CEO, his influence over the platform remains significant. Particularly as Musk frequently shares his ‘ideas’ via Twitter posts, most of Twitter’s services tend to evolve in line with these ‘ideas’. Therefore, it is challenging to predict whether the new Twitter CEO, upon taking office, will continue to be guided by Musk’s vision for Twitter’s development.
Numerous investors have previously implored Musk to relinquish his role as Twitter’s CEO and return to his ‘primary occupation’, to preclude any detrimental impact on the stock prices of Tesla and SpaceX. With this announcement that he will step down as Twitter’s CEO, investors may perhaps gain some additional reassurance.
