E3 2024 and E3 2025 have been canceled
Despite this year’s intention to resurrect the E3 gaming expo in a physical format, it was ultimately canceled after a multitude of considerations. Nonetheless, the Entertainment Software Association of the United States maintains that it is still in the process of planning forthcoming E3 events.
However, documents from the Los Angeles City Tourism Commission, shared on the ResetEra forum website, indicate that the E3 2024 and E3 2025, originally scheduled to take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center, will be canceled.
The data suggests that the venue for the subsequent E3 exhibitions will not be the Los Angeles Convention Center. The Entertainment Software Association, the primary organizer of the E3 gaming expo, emphasized that a decision has not been made regarding the cancellation of the upcoming exhibition events. Moreover, they are currently engaging in discussions with other members.
Since 2019, when the physical exhibition event was held, the E3 gaming expo has been unable to resume its physical format due to the impact of the novel coronavirus pandemic. In 2021, it was only able to resume in an online format. However, in 2022 and 2023, the shift in the way game developers and players communicate, and the trend towards hosting their own events for player interaction, has caused the E3 gaming expo to continually fail in its revival of the physical exhibition format.
During a previous interview, Stanley Pierre-Louis, President and CEO of the Entertainment Software Association, stated that future commercial exhibition events will evidently require a transformation to operate smoothly. Hence, future E3 events will undergo iterative transformations to meet the promotional demands of future exhibitions. This indicates that forthcoming E3 events will engage with the market and players in diverse formats.
