Duolingo launches “Max” subscription plan, leveraging GPT-4 to simulate more realistic language learning outcomes
Language learning service Duolingo has recently announced the launch of a subscription plan called Duolingo Max, which will harness OpenAI’s GPT-4 large-scale language model technology to create a more intelligent chatbot that can assist users in learning different languages more efficiently.
Duolingo Max will employ artificial intelligence to answer users’ language-related queries, such as deciphering idioms and sentence structures and simulate interactions with various characters in different scenarios to practice diverse expressions.
According to Duolingo CEO Luis von Ahn, most people struggle to access one-on-one language instruction, so AI-powered solutions are anticipated to provide more individuals with “one-on-one,” intensive language learning resources.
Duolingo has been dedicated to developing the Duolingo Max service since 2022, collaborating with OpenAI on its recently announced GPT-4 large-scale language model technology to create more realistic linguistic interactions. The company emphasizes that months of training and testing have been spent to make the service closely resemble genuine conversational experiences.
Currently, English-speaking iOS users of Duolingo can learn Spanish and French through the Duolingo Max subscription plan. In the United States, the pricing is set at $30 per month or $168 per year, including the features of Duolingo’s paid subscription plans.
