Cumulative shipments of Google Pixel mobile phones exceed 37.9 million units

Compared to Google’s inaugural Pixel phone, launched in October 2016, which saw shipments of just under 4 million units in its first year, the Pixel 7 series released last year boasted an impressive tally of 7.2 million units.

To date, the cumulative shipments of the Pixel series have surpassed 37.9 million units. Although this pales in comparison to some other smartphone brands, there’s a discernible trajectory of growth in shipment volumes. Particularly in the U.S. market, Pixel shipments have shown no signs of waning. Furthermore, the Pixel 7 series achieved its most remarkable sales performance in the Japanese market, underscoring the allure of the Pixel phones’ seamless integration of hardware and software, augmented by artificial intelligence-enhanced photography capabilities.

Transitioning from past collaborations with various OEMs to create the Nexus brand of phones—a testament to the pure Android operating system experience—Google’s foray into propelling its proprietary Pixel brand has been marked by a steadfast commitment to a design ethos driven by software animating hardware capabilities.

Ever since Google’s collaboration with Samsung to develop its custom Tensor G series processors, there’s been an emboldened emphasis on enhancing the mobile AI computing experience through integrated hardware-software synergy. With the launch of the Pixel 8 series, Google proclaimed a design philosophy encompassing “Software + AI + Hardware.” By positioning AI at the nexus of software and hardware, Google underscores a commitment to amplifying integrated operations, paving the way for a myriad of computational possibilities within smartphones.
