Consumer DRAM prices fell more than 13% in 2022Q3

It can be seen from the financial reports of many companies recently that the market demand for client PCs and other consumer electronic products is weakening. Normally, this will lead to a drop in hardware prices. TrendForce has previously predicted that the overall DRAM price will drop by 3% to 8% in the third quarter of 2022, and in the consumer market, this drop will be more severe.

According to TrendForce‘s research on the DRAM market, under the pressure of increasing production, Korean manufacturers have significantly increased their willingness to compromise on price in order to stimulate purchases by dealers and customers. Micron has no choice but to follow, which has led to a steady expansion of the downward trend in prices, coupled with the fact that suppliers have a lot of inventory on hand, and will sell at lower prices aggressively. This exacerbated the decline in consumer DRAM prices in the third quarter, which expanded to 13-18% from the original estimate of 8-13%.

Looking forward to the fourth quarter, the inventory will continue to decline until the end market inventory is exhausted until the market oversupply situation eases, consumer DRAM prices will fall by 3-8% in the fourth quarter, and the possibility of further decline cannot be ruled out.
